Currently have a Curve 8310 (via at&t wireless).

Eligilbe for an upgrade now...trying to figure which of these 2 to go with ??

I really like the thought of no more trackball on the 9700.

Anybody out there that's tried both ?? have any input or recommendations ??

    Thanks

Unless you're Ham-handed, the 9700 will be your best choice of the 2, straight opinion. It will be usable for longer, as well as supported the same, and is a really sweet BlackBerry according to many of my friends who are currently very pleased with theirs.

The 9000 is good for typing because of the keyboard size.

The 9700 is good because of the trackpad, wifi, and also the battery life I hear is very good.

Either the 9000 or the 9700 would be a fine choice in BB. Try them both in the store. The feel is different enough the I am not trading even though the 9700 has better features.

The IPhone is an entire other world. As a BB addict who can have any phone I choose there is no question of staying with BBm. There are plenty of comparison threads if you want other opinions.

9700 its newer has a trackpad which means no dead balls, a better camera, more memory, better battery and better wifi.

Both great phones but if your upgrading you might as well go for the newest 9700

As for the iphone, its better for games and apps and being "fun" bb is better for being a great multitasking work horse that's fast and reliable for calls emails and texting.

Get the 9700 and be done with it. By every measure (except the keyboard) it is
a vastly more superior device than the 9000.

Is the 9000 still being sold? I thought the 9700 replaced it.

I would go with the 9700. The battery life alone is amazing. Also, if RIM ever decides to give us the webkit browser, the 9700 might have a greater chance to be able to upgrade to. Many are happy with the 9700 as I am.

Its up to your own preferences , why don't you go down to the shop and try both? But I would say 9700 is better as I used it for 3months and so far , it had been better then iphone .

Depends on your needs I guess, if you email/text/bbm alot you might want to consider the 9000

Bigger screen (not by much) bigger keyboard.
However lots of ppl have trackball issues after some time.

Personally the 9700 is alot better in terms of camera quality and battery life, imo the biggest let downs of the 9000. I can get 2 days easy out of my 9700

9000 is still a classy device.if you are a professional on the go, the 9000's keyboard will serve you well. i can say from my experience it has been the most durable and reliable device i ever used. its voice and call quality are magnificent. the 9000 has the best speakers compared to the 9700. its large screen estate is stellar. but my dad needs a berry so i am gladly going to give him my 9000. he is a businessman and he likes the feel and size of it. the only issue he is having is reading the keys because he has reading glasses lol. but he said he will get used to it. as for me, i get to decide which device i want. the 9700 is one of my options. its a sexy looking device. it may seem small for some people. the 9100 is another option for me. its also sexy and has surepress. i have used a pearl model before- the 8100. so it will not be anything new for me to get used to. but the 9100's release seems to be in may but i need a phone by april. next, the blackberry slider is on the horizon. something different ever from rim. i have never had a slider phone before so this will be a total new coming. but its release date is far off too. then there is the device i really look forward to- the dakota. to some people this is the true bold successor. but information on it has been silent as of late. and its release date is not also certain. so right now i am in the pondering state. but i know i will come to a decision eventually.
so you can't go wrong with the 9000 or 9700. both devices offer something different. but rim is always releasing new devices that draw more and more customers. so you may find yourself in this position in the near future.but do what you feel is right today.

Ive had both and you cant go wrong with either. But the 9700 has double the application memory, and the battery lasts three times as long between charges.

Can't you do what someone suggested and try them all at the store? The Berries and the iPhone you're thinking of?
I think it's the best way to go.

I had the 9000 and got the 9700 - love it.

My husband still has the 9000 because of the size of his fingertips. He's waiting for the Dakota.

i had the 9000, loved it... then i decided to try out the 9700.. loved it even more. trackpad was excellent, and the performance was stellar. however, I returned back to the 9000 because of the size. 9000's keyboard is a lot easier to use, the speakers are excellent, and i love the screen size.

i do miss the excellent battery life, trackpad, better camera and app memory though.

i felt that the soreness i felt in my right thumb-bone was worth the switch back to the 9000!

I've had both the 9000 and the 9700, as of now I'm staying with the 9700 battery is way more superior and have no complaints besides the keyboard but its just a matter of getting use to it.
