I have a 9700 and 9100 and both are running OS5. My 9700 is my daily phone while I plan on the 9100 as my backup phone or for travelling. So, I was setting up my 9100 and to a certain extent, mirror what's on the 9700, which needed Blackberry App World. On the 9700, I have an older version of App World while 9100 has a newer version. When I ran App World on my 9100, it prompted me to enter my BB ID and password. I did so, then a message popped up with along the lines of, "changing PIN to xxxxx and mention something about email being stopped to a previous Blackberry device. Yes. No." I was not sure how this would affect my 9700 so chose "no," and I was kicked out of App World.

After reading up about BB ID, I'm still unsure about the BB ID. Some say having one BB ID for more than one device will be fine, so if I were to switch between devices, I'll just need to swap the SIM card to the appropriate devices everything will be fine. However, some suggest to have a different BB ID for each device. Adding another twist, I've also read that for OS7 devices, it would require a wiping of a device in order to use that same BB ID. While I don't haven't upgraded to an OS7 yet, there will be times where I will switching back and forth between OS5 and OS7.

So what does this mean in terms of the BB ID and the OS5/OS7 devices? Will I have any issues switching between 9700 and 9100 using the same BB ID? How about switching between 9700/9100 and an OS7 device?

No you just say yes, switch to the new device. I did it for a while between a 9700 (OS5) and a 9900 (OS 7.1)

    It is O.K.
    Just press "Yes".
I do it with my 2 playbooks all the time.

I switch fairly often as well between my Bold 9900, Torch 9800 and sometimes even my Bold 9700, depending on what I am doing, and use the same Blackberry ID for all devices. Just click yest that you are switching devices. I have never had any issues come up in doing this.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I have one more question. According to this, Expectations when using the same BlackBerry ID on multiple devices, "There is a maximum of 15 (unique) device swaps per product line allowed in one year."

The way I'm reading this is a total of 15 different devices can be used, so switching between device A & B back and forth hundreds of times is okay, but switching between more than 15 devices once, is not okay. Am I reading that right?

I have a few BB devices and all of them have their own charm, and using all them every now and then keeps my Crackberry addiction alive and strong.

I used my same I'd on 9700 on os6 and curve on os5
Now I want to use a new id for my curve. What is the process to do that. I tried everything but it doesn't seem to work. Curve n bold both are associated to same I'd and it's not letting me change on curve

Create the new ID before starting on the phone needing changed. Once created, secure wipe your phone needing changed, when it restarts it will ask for an ID, enter the new ID you just created.
