Will the BlackBerry 7290, 7100x and 8800 open .docx files?

I have just taken control of a BES environment that is extremely out of date and have just been told users cant open .docx files on their really old BlackBerrys. I know that BES needs upgrading to allow this file type to be sent and recieved but will the 7290's, 7100x's and 8800's be able to open this file type anyway?

    Many thanks!

Documents To Go for BlackBerry Smartphones: Word, Excel and PowerPoint on your BlackBerry Smartphone

On their website they do not list any Support for 7XXX series devices.

you may need to instruct the users they need to have new devices purchased,

If memory serves me correctly, I think the first OS that had the ability to open DOC/DOCX files was 4.5 which came preloaded with Docs to Go. Since none of those devices support 4.5, they wouldn't be able to open those attachments. The only think that could would be the BB Attachment Service which is built into the OS, but those models may still be too old to support that file type.

Such old devices... I found an old 7xxx series, tried to turn it on and thought it was the coolest thing ever. Nostalgia won me over.
