That is B.S and this thread proves it.
Also, I think NY Times is expecting something like an iPhone release?
We aren't that idiotic to stand in a line for that long.

It's been said on the forums before, but when Apple does a release, its usually only a few stores that have them available (and shortages are expected). With the Z10, there were MANY outlets and carriers selling them. I walked by at least 5 on my way to work in Toronto.

I don't think you can say it's lackluster based on three anecdotes. The plural of "anecdote" is not "data".

that article is a pile of ****. i checked three stores on my lunch hour before picking up mine from Rogers and they were all sold out of their regular stock within 1.5hours of opening. only preordered stock remained.

I think that's the key, that there are only a number of Apple stores, while there are tons of phone outlets.
Furthermore, didn't most people pre-order them anyway?

Yeah, that article feels pretty darn slanted and not representative of what I'm seeing to be as a pretty successful launch day.

CrackBerry Nation.... go leave some tactful comments educating the author otherwise!

That's horse****!! I know of someone driving around right now and can't find a phone. He's now been to 4 places. Why he didn't call ahead is beyond me... maybe it's the hunt that's exciting.

First, who's standing in the meal line for a phone on a Tuesday morning? People work, have lives. Most people preordered devices so the mad dash to the store could be prevented.

Second, BlackBerry isn't Apple. Clearly Thor and all his pals understand that this is a marathon...not a foot race. Selling 1 million phones on a new platform on opening day is an unrealistic goal.

NY Times is going off this nutty Apple camp out mess. No thank you. That type of buying should not become standard.

I ordered a Z10 from Rogers days ago. I am presently nat position ~2000 and still no invite from Rogers to come and get it. I am actually not angry at all (not in a rush) but if preorders are late then you can imply that they are either out of stock or Rogers is playing a game...

BB people have jobs. We don't camp overnight for a phone. We order them and wait for them or go after work and buy them.

the whites are sold out, and Rogers is using the occasion to push whites in other brands,
so you know it is true the whites sold out, somebody must have bought them right?
overall impression i get is interest is better than the article indicates...

Well obviously no one at the empty stores were buying Iphones or Samsungs either..... I do not have mine yet....will likely get it tomorrow....while we on Crackberry seem to be early adopters most Canadians and most Blackberry fans do not just run out and go all crazy over every little thing. Grow up New York Times!

I had no preorder. I called 3 Telus stores at 9:30 and all 3 were sold out.
I then called a place most would not think of... Wal Mart. They had 2 left. The nice lady put one under the counter for me and 25 minutes later I had my Z10.
    Yesssssssssssssssss...
Wal Mart only has Telus units and cannot activate on a corporate plan so I went to a Telus dealer and 5 minutes later and an $11.00 SIM card I'm good to go!

That is a device at the height of its demand, no other phones can compare with the launch frenzy that apple can drive their fanboys into right now, that figure is also from all markets too.

Goodluck finding a phone as they are sold out almost everywhere. I have a buddy calling around Toronto. Does anyone know a Telus in Toronto that still has one? I can not believe how good this phone is compared to my SG3. You can not compare it. The Z10 is unlike anything I have used before.

Why would you line up if you can pre-order online. I guess Canadians know how not to waste their time standing in lines.
Also, Bell already acknowledged it's the best launch of BB saleswise.
