Hopefully BlackBerry will start to sell them direct. They started selling the Z10 and the Q10 on their website to USA direct. Hopefully Z30 and Canada follows suit.

Their direct selling is at unreasonably high prices compared to other sites and carriers

I'd be willing to pay them an extra $50 if they sold it direct. I'm sure many Wouldn't and as such they should be competitive.

Telus has a 3-month waiting time for unlocking, assuming you are actively their client. Also, they charge I believe $35 to unlock it.

It may be better to use third party unlocker it you're in a rush.

If you know someone that works for Telus, you will probably be able to get the z30 through their Team Store for friends and family, and get a small discount from the full price, typically $50 or so for high end devices. I may do just that, $50 is still $50. Thats the cost of unlocking it anyway.
