This is no kidding. At the BlackBerry Developer Day conference held in Toronto, Canada, on Thursday, RIM announced to developers that Blackberry PlayBook will also be able to run iOS apps.
That aside from being able to run Android 2.3 Gingerbread apps, Java-based Blackberry apps; and C/C++, HTML5 and Adobe AIR-based apps.
Developers will be able to submit their recompiled iOS apps (programmed in C/C++) to the Blackberry App World, RIM said.
RIM is scheduled to launch two new "app players" for the tablet in Summer. These are essentially cross-platform application launchers that will enable the above said functionality.
Game developers can use tools from Ideaworks Labs and Unity Technologies to port their apps from iOS to the BlackBerry Tablet OS (based-on QNX Neutrino).
Blackberry PlayBook hits stores in U.S. and Canada on April 19th, and U.K. in June 2011. And with all this, it should stay head-to-head with Android and iOS.
