never mind. i did a battery pull and its locking now with the NW off.
it seems to c=keep the maps in Cache that you had.. so if you turn off the NW but the map has been DL durring your trip it will still be there, as long as you dont change the zoom of the map.
im doing it now and its allowing me to pan all over the areas that i drove today (where i did have nw to DL maps)
