It will continue to be supported with a couple more security updates over the next year or so. Looks like that will be about it.

You device won't just stop working though.

There are no new BB10 devices planned. The future of BlackBerry devices, if there is one, is android.

Unfortunately, It doesn't look promising for another BB10 device. If there is going to be another BB10 device released, it will have the android runtime ripped out of it.

BlackBerry have fired most of their BB10 development team.

Either way, it's a sad situation we have found ourselves in...

Don't worry. They've been gone a long time. New jobs and probably glad to be gone since it's no fun being in dead end job always wondering if today is the end.

Sounds like being a BlackBerry employee in general, not just a BB10 engineer.

There is no question. Action is the answer, no action, no future. BBOS 10 is a done deal. We are being drug along until we are forced to move. They are only hoping we will stay with BB.

I'm for a Passport with Windows 10 on it, now that would be awesome.

BB's license for GMS (Google Mobile Services) and Google Play, which BB signed, prohibits devices with 1:1 screen ratios. Screens must be between 4:3 and 16:9 (which includes 16x10 - another common ratio). Thus, a PP-like device would have to have, at minimum, a 4:3 screen - similar to the upcoming PKB Android phone.

You just used "verizon" and "updates" in the same context. That was pretty funny.

They were super passionate and super proud I'm sure. Some of the best software engineers in the business, picked up by Google and Apple.

Funny how Chen decided to discard some of his greatest assets.
