Alec Saunders mentioned a while back that once the January 30 launch date was announced a fair number of the big apps providers realized RIM was serious and go to it. Perhaps some are just taking a little longer to get it done.
Frankly, with NetFlix being on Windows Phone, which has a smaller customer base than the legacy BBOS, I'm not sure what's their beef with making an app for BB10.
Not that I could give a... monkey's. NetFlix doesn't really matter anywhere but the US, but as I have said before (and others have too), it still needs to be there for those that want it.
Si.
Yes is interesting what you mention about Netflix on Windows 8 already. But i guess we will see it comming close to the launching to the Rest of America.
There is no telling how much money MS had to shell out to get them on Board.
go to their facebook page and post on their wall.
there will be hundreds of posts and perhaps someone there will realize the demand.
My chat with netflix today (you can getthem to email you the chat... i think we should all do this and then someone can collect all the chats and send them a mass email with all of our requests.
hank you for contacting Netflix customer support.
Here is the transcript from your recent chat with customer support:
Netflix Zakk
Hi there! My name is Zakk, how may I help you today?
You
Hello, I have been a Netflix Canada subscriber since Day 1 and was very disappointed that you have not supported the Blackberry Playbook. I also notice that you are not supporting the new BB10 devices... is there a reason for this
Netflix Zakk
Oh man, I totally understand. Though right now the device is not supported in that area, we are always working on getting set up everywhere.
Netflix Zakk
I appreciate your passion about the issue, and your very obvious loyalty to Netflix, if you would like, I can make a notation about the issue on your behalf.
You
Yes, please do so. I think that leaving out such a big market is a very bad move on the part of Netflix. With HDMI out the Z10 or playbook can be used to stream netflix to ANY tv or projector, which can allow people that do not have internet capable tvs the chance to use your service... but you are limiting them for no reason at all.
You
i think that this should be a top priority right now
Netflix Zakk
Before I go any further, real quick, do you mind if I ask who I am chatting with?
You
yea, my name is **********
You
is there a problem
Netflix Zakk
Thank you, I COMPLETELY agree with everything you are saying. It is immensely important that Netflix is vigilant about device capability in every region. I'm going to be making a notation on your account right now.
Netflix Zakk
No problem at all. I am just being as thorough as possible, because this is such an important issue to you.
You
Thank You. I have to get back to work now.
Netflix Zakk
You are so welcome, Frank. I would keep checking for updates on our website for device capability in your area.
Netflix Zakk
If there is nothing else I can help you with Frank, have a nice day. Thank you SO much for your passion towards making our company improve everyday! And one more thing, if you wouldn't mind, please stay online for a one question survey.
You
Thank you
They use MS Silverlight Digital Rights Management (DRM) system for desktops/laptops etc. Netflix probably got a discount ...
you censored your name and then outed yourself a few lines down, Frank :p
