I'm a current Palm OS user (Treo 680) who is thinking to migrate to the blackberry platform (BB8320 or BB Pearl). I'm planning to buy the phone unlocked without any blackberry service (the plan is quite expensive in HK). I have a few questions that I want to ask to those who already the have the blackberry :

    1. Can I still get my gmail/yahoo account (not push) without the BES? I do have an unlimited data account with my current carrier, can it still be done?
    2. Can I sync my contacts and calendar using my mac?
    3. Am I missing out a lot of things (besides the push email) without the BBS?
    4. Is it still worth getting the BB8320/BBPearl without the BBS and just for the phone/pda functions compared to the Treo 680?

    Thanks for the help

I migrated from a 755p to an 8830. The only things that I regret are that my Agendus (desktop) and Dataviz (.doc,.xml and .pdf)software are not compatible. They can be replaced. All in all, a good move. Gmail pushes fine through my BIS server.
