An article has come out stating that the new QNX phone slated for 2012 will come with an Android player and support android apps from day one.

Interesting... more interesting that it cites that the phones will support over 200k Android apps and that they have already "launched two "app players" for the Playbook to provide a run-time environment for Blackberry Java apps and Android 2.3 apps..."

    Already launched? Leak or typo???

they are not "launched" but RIM has announced that the PB will eventually have them. Its no surprise that the QNX phones will also have this ability out of the box. The 200K apps is not true though. The apps will have to be repackaged and submitted to RIM Appworld for approval just like all apps currently do for the PB. It is unknown how many android devs will go thru this process. You might only get 500 apps and you might get 50K, no one knows

That'd be pretty cool! I won't be able to upgrade till around the time the QNX phones come out (even if my Bold is dying on me) and something like this would be a real positive.

The Android App Player on QNX phones is to be expected. I think this device will be quite impressive. It has to be. We should see a premium, top notch all touch phone with the best materials and build quality to date... it has to be to get the RIMPIRE TO STRIKE BACK!
