New poster, converting to BlackBerry... seek advice!

Hey people!

New poster from the UK and never owned a BlackBerry...EVER! However i lost my phone on New yrs and a mate loaned me his old Curve...i'm now a BlackBerry addict!

What i wanted to ask though is this... with the upcoming release of some new handsets and me getting my hands on �500 from the insurance payout i'm looking to get a Blackberry for myself...Looked at the 9900 which looks exactly like what i need in my life but wondering whether to hold out for the new QWERTY handset on BlackBerry10?


What do you guys think? Any other advice you've got on blackBerry and the do's and do not's please don't hesitate to throw them my way.

Welcome. Do your research and wait until Jan. 30th. If you don't want a Z10 or X10 over a 9900 by then I'd be shocked.

The new operating system is at least 10x better than BBOS. (See what I did there?) ;)

cheers guys, been looking about A LOT at all these leaks etc, seems i've thought of nothing else since i entered the BlackBerry world. The x10 looks right up my street. No leaks on average pricing yet?

The only reason you should want a 9900 is the following;
*You don't have the money to spring on the newest stuff coming out, like me ;)
*You are exceedingly impatient to get your own device as the crack effect has found a new carrier
*You've watched alot of BB10 videos, read alot of articles, and feel that just for now, you prefer the traditional BlackBerry interface
*As a side to the above, you feel you may better appreciate the traditional "smiling keyboard" design as opposed to the all-flat keyboard we've seen so far, and/or prefer a trackpad as BB10 will not have one.

Either way welcome aboard. You will be purchasing what will be your new best friend and it will add alot to your life if you let it. G'luck :)

I have the insurance cash which if the leaked price of the z10 is anything to go by should cover a x10 :s

I prefer the smiling keyboard true but i suppose i've gotta make the change and basically i want my own device!!

I am counting the days until I can pass my 9850 to my son, and pick up a Z10. But my wife loves her 99XX.....and when the LEAKED photos of the X10 were released....I was not impressed at all, and wondered why anyone would give up their 99XX for that ****-ugly @#&*-ing thing. So let's hope they are in fact just that....LEAKED photos of a nowhere near finished product
That being said, it depends on what you want it for....for fabulous messaging, I don't see why a 99XX wouldn't work just fine for at least a year....IMHO

I think the z10 looks great for the market it's aimed at, iphone and samsung users, the x10 doesn't have the beauty of the 9900 it would seem, seems a bit...plastic..y

Pricing will Not be revealed until January 30th. Anything said is Pure Speculation. So just wait til the end of the month.

9900 is pure gold, why wait! satisfy craving! go go go!

Ha your right with the first line... it's a craving and am not going to be happy until i have my own device in my hands!! The wait goes on....

If I had $500 to spend on a phone, I'd definitely wait for the BB10 phones - specially after using the PlayBook for a year. If you can wait for a month with a old phone, do it! It'll be well worth it!

Getting a bit panicky to when looking at leaks from left right and centre about release dates of march/April etc.

The only thing that looks good for us UK users is EE announced on twitter BB handsets would be available soon after launch...not much more info however.


Still, it's a time to get excited and glad i've joined the BB world and this forum.

If you are a blackberry addict with a curve, imagine what the bb10 will do to you eh=p

...that said i am going to buy my own handset as my friend has a 9790 kicking about he's willing to give me for �50 as he's a friend i've done favours for in the past. All boxed, accessories all new,

Nice first foray into the BlackBerry world... if the Z10 is out around Feb/March in the UK i could have gone from never having a BlackBerry in my adult life to using 3 in the first 3 months of 2013.....

Just wait....it gets better....soon you will be trolling these Crackberry waters just for a sniff of new information.....real or imagined.
