I just got back from the Rogers store that I deal as ,as my Bold 9000 is on its last legs ,and I need a new phone . Ideally I would like a Storm 2 ,but they are not getting it ,what I was told with out asking ,is that they are getting the new Slider with touch screen sometime late May early June . Need a phone prior to then ,does any body have other news they can give?
Hate to break up the party and be the bearer of bad news, but what I learned during the whole waiting-for-the-9700 thing was not to listen to store managers.
I'm not saying they intentionally mislead, but we had so many instances where one said one thing and the other said another.
Im calling bull on the manager..we havent seen a working tallegada in the wild yet and don't know any specs. There is no way he would know the release date if we don't. If release date was given to high end rogers managers then a leaked document or screen shot would have came out by now, and besides we always have device info before that happens...
As for what devices are coming up for rogers...theres this and the new pearl.
The 9700 is still out but its getting really OLD and a replacement is needed.
I am nursing my bold 9000 on a daily basis ,so I am in need of something if not now ,very very soon. I do not want a bold 9700 I would like a touch screen of some nature . Maybe I will take the 9700 they are offering me ,and just trade it for a storm 9550.
You can only get the 9550 unlocked and with 2G EDGE speeds on Rogers. You'd be better off finishing out your contract and switching to Telus, or getting the 9700, selling it with your contract, and get a 9550 on Telus (or Bell if they ever get it).
I'm calling BS on this claim just on the fact that there is almost always info leaked by the carrier or otherwise prior to the release of a new phone. As it stands the BB slider is nothing more than a few pictures with no substantial information behind it.
My 9000 officially died yesterday morning . I dug out my old 8310 from my office cabinet and got it going with new software ,and transfered all my info .Not happy ,but it works alot more efficient than my bold has been latelly . I will wait and see if i can last till rogers gets something in touch this spring . If not will buy a 9550 and unlock it . It may not be 3g but it will be better than my 8310 i am using.
