I don't see that happening. CEO Chen has already confirmed that the "Jakarta" will be a touchscreen device, which the general assumption is that it will be a BB10 device.

Edit, according to this crackberry post the Jakarta is built on the BB10 platform.
Foxconn built BlackBerry "Jakarta" gets Bluetooth SIG certified | CrackBerry.com

Longing for a new BlackBerry/Foxxconn built BBOS device is an exercise in futility. The 9720 that was built last year, in my view was a waste in precious resources and should never have been built. That ship (BBOS) has sailed away long ago.

I know all about the Jakarta. If there is money to be made and Foxconn takes on the risk and there is still demand for a BIS model in some markets, I see no problem with it. Foxconn and BlackBerry know their markets and maybe they think that BIS is still viable.

Here in North America or the UK we don't really have a clue what is happening in the Nigerian or other similar market places. Last time I looked, the majority of the 14 largest smartphone markets all had underdeveloped cell phone infrastructure.

The 9900/9930 user base might not be huge but it easily outnumbers all the BB10 users right now after a year of sales.

You don't need a source, BB10 user base is that minuscule.

Without getting into arguments, of BB comes out with an OS8 updated 9900 they can count on my cash.

BB10 has been a bad experience of wait and see and bug after bug.

Until then I'm going back to BBOS. Very soon.

I have the Z10 and love the speed of it....love the browsing etc. But with constant email problems I am, for the first time in years, without an email account on my phone. They are now on my PB. No one seems to know what the issue for daily asking for passwords is...recently started with many but ongoing for me for months. ...a little inconvenience that over time has turned into somewhat of a major irritation.

Add to that....bear in mind I dont get out much....when I am out, at hospital for instance, it is nice to be able to browse, catch up on Twitter or wherever, or just listen to the news on the radio. Since I have had my Z10 I can't do this....and I know enough about them to tweek and fiddle with the settings etc to give it it's best chance of working. It's almost as if with the signal in my area that the Z10 is too advanced. Indeed, end of last year in hospital for my jaw op and I was the only one on the recovery ward not using their phone. I could call, text and that was it. I didn't do my normal sales pitch....my phone stayed in my bag, and I lay there bored to death.

And so...I can't get a proper signal with the Z10 in places that my Curve would have no problems. And I have no email on my Z10 where all the accounts were in my Curve and worked perfectly.

As I said at the beginning of this....I do love the Z10...but in some respects it just doesn't work as well as my Curve did. And as nice a looking phone as it is, and as much as BlackBerry have to move on, I need something that works for me.

I'm seriously considering going back to a legacy as my main phone....and using my Z10 as a tablet and media unit.

You are basing your opinions on a very old BlackBerry which basically means you have no idea what you're talking about.

And you are rooting around like an anteater blindly looking for ants, as usual, hoping that one of them eventually turns out to be The Queen that proves something.

The reality is: my opinions on BBOS dovetail virtually 100% with most peoples opinions outside of the few squeaky-wheel traditionalists around here, so I think you still need to do more rooting around for the Queen that you so ardently seek to attempt to discredit those who disagree with you.

It's not, my Z10 couldn't reply to emails or send attachments (the smtp bug) and my Q10 deleted all my SMS and 3 months worth of work emails, from device and server, a bug experience by more then a few.

So no, BB10 is not better them the current competition, as far as my experience in 2013 goes.

That bug is mentioned a lot on various help pages. Of course there are many, like yourself that never see it or have a problem. But to the ones that do it can cause major work etc issues.

Yet it is only a rare individual that refuses to ascribe any value to the fact that those issues have all been resolved now, and have been resolved for months.

Wouldn't want to undermine your rationale for claiming that everything about the platform is garbage.

Yep, you gave it a good shake, alright.

I know it's off topic, but it is part of the conversation.

Just happened to me this morning.

Email stopped working on my Q, no reason why?!?! Worked fine half hour prior. Tested my account on laptop, it all worked, just making sure it wasn't my ISP or something.

Went into my BlackBerry setting, tried to re-enter my password, nothing, called my isp, changed imap and a few numbers with their direction, nothing worked. I ended up having to remove my account, re-boot, re-install the account, got it working again.

It's great, I lost all my calendars and all the stuff I had flagged for reminder. It was definitely unexpected and its awesome now that it happened to me, I'm stoked.

If there were a booby prize in this thread for people claiming things that they don't actually know are true, you'd take home all the winnings.

I know this undermines your perennial crusade to trump up so-called flaws in BB10, but you'll have to excuse me while I laugh at you.

If you're going to incessantly seek out things to try to criticize about the platform, the least you could do is actually cite things that are actually worthy of criticism. Not already fixed things.

Yeah, have a read through the forums, the update has screwed up many people's devices. Actually you know very well as I've seen you reply to people.

How can you claim the update resolved the issues where it clearly multiplied them?

How are all the new email problems threads going to give me the confidence to fire up my Q10, update it and set my email up again on it?

Or is the entire user base supposed to change to EAS just because BB10 is crap at email now?

I find it hard to understand why you constantly defend it since you know very well the problems with BB10, and you've known them from the very beginning.

One year after launch the problems are still there.

More new features turn up in OS 10.2.1 including contact profiles, Q10 speed dial, new BBM icons and more | CrackBerry.com

Perhaps BlackBerry can reintroduce this, as it does make cursor positioning more precise.
WASD arrow keys / combo. Said it so mant times before. Accurate positioning without a need for a trackpad.

However, before posting it is always well to get facts....the poster is not an iphone guru and indeed has not only a Z10 but a Q10 too. I seem to remember in one of his previous posts his phone of the moment is a Pearl, which is just one of his extensive Blackberry device collection....
