I still stand by the notion that once RIM/BB is no longer in a transitional stage, and has not just its Playbook on the market, but BB10 devices as well, you will see the likes of Netflix etc begin to produce apps for the platform.
Once the OS is publicly perceived to be finalized, as well as the developer tools, you will see a lot of developers jump into the arena.
That has got to be among the most spoiled brat like petition letters I have ever seen. Essentially, I pay for your service for which you never said you would provide Blackbery access but I demand it anyway because I use a Blackberry device. BTW, more archaeologists signed the petition protesting a couple upcoming TV series on looting sites than have signed this, and there aren't millions of us on the planet. Perhaps that might clue people in a bit on why Netflix isn't developing an app. Just maybe they are correct that there isn't enough of a market to justify development and support costs....

Part of the whole point is for these apps to be in place so that they're ready to go IN TIME for BB10. The more the merrier.
3832 signatures, This type of thing should be supported
Lets say it tops out at 4000 signatures. 4000 * 4.99 (guessing a price here) = just under $20,000. Thats just for the app itself. Someone mentioned the cost was $9/mo (i have no idea if this is accurate) but that would be $36,000/mo or $432,000/yr for BlackBerry Playbook users. Assuming all that sign the petition would use the app. Now that is very unlikely, but it IS likely that 4000 PB users out of 1mil+ would subscribe. Cost benefit analysis seems to point to making an app. But hey, it cant be that simple right? lol
As another posted pointed out, what if Blackberry doesn't want Netflix? If they force it's users to use their own profitable service they make more money. I checked out the video store last night, prices seemed pretty high for a lackluster selection. A Netflix app would demolish it.
This was a major reason I chose an ipad2 over the Playbook, even with the ipad2 being $200-$300 more. Not only can I play Netflix on my ipad2, I can also play it on my ipod touch 4th Gen (using a HDMI adaptor to my HDTV) for an even better viewing experiance. With Apple releasing the ipad3 shortly, and Netflix losing customers, I highly doubt you will ever see Netflix app for a Playbook. What I'd like to know is why SiriusXM hasn't YET but an app out for OS7 devices? Doubt we'll ever see that too.
