My BB 8120 is only 3 months old and the trackball has stopped "clicking" - it still works but there is no click. You just push it in and it eventually registers as a button press. I thought I would try a new trackball - got one off amazon and installed today - still no click. Tmobile wants to give me a refurb but my phone is still mint! I don't want some kids scratched up BB! So I need to know what actually causes the ball the click when pushed in - someone told me it was the orange plastic square under the ball but mine appears to be ok and still in place. Does anybody know for sure what causes the trackball to "click"?

So are you saying when you press the trackball to select, it's slow to respond?

No - I'm saying that the ball no longer gives a tactile click when you push it in. If you have a BB with a trackball try pushing it in - it will click in and then back out. Mine just pushs in and stops - no resistance feeling at all.

Ahhh. Thats weird. Sounds like the Trackball assembly. Not the actual phone. But with the new one doing it too....not sure. As for the Furbie ( refurbished). If you have to go that route. Don't worry. It wont be mangled. 99% are just ones returned in the 14 day grace because someone was overwhelmed. And it will have been tested out twice. Good luck.

The trackball click comes from the mainboard and not the trackball assembly. If it has stopped clicking then the plastic detent on the board has given up. Soon, the trackball will stop selecting and the board will need $65 of repair. So take it back to the store and get an exchange.
