- Hi all,
I'm looking to get into the blackberry scene here soon (verizon). I'm not huge on the touch screen phones without a keypad (so not sure if the Storm 2 will be for me) so my question is....should I pick up the Tour now or should I wait for the Curve 2 to come out? Is there another blackberry w/ full keypad coming out this winter that I should consider too?
I like the looks and feel of the Tour a lot...but I know future bberry devices should have wi-fi. I've read conflicting things about the curve 2 as well, saying that although it has wifi, it will be a step below the Tour in terms of capability, resolution, and memory.
Looking for some advice or opinions on what would be a good move?
Thanks!10-03-09 09:31 PMLike 0 -
- I would be doing an annual upgrade (since I pay over verizon's amount and know a verizon guy who will let me do it 8 months into my 2 year contract) so if I bought that I'd be ruling out any of the upcoming bberry's for myself.....worth it still?10-03-09 10:19 PMLike 0
- I would say so. I really love my Tour. I guess if you can wait...you always could. But I personally love my Tour and would recommend it.10-04-09 12:20 AMLike 0
- Tour does look pretty tight. Plus you can never really keep up with the newest technology, so I shouldn't even try (unless I win the lotto).
It would be real handy for week. No wifi sucks, but VZ network is good where I'm at and I always got my ipod touch if i'm in a wifi spot i guess.10-04-09 12:34 AMLike 0 - Are the trackballs on the Tour as bad as I'm reading? I've read the reports on cnet and consumer reports, and they don't mention issues...10-04-09 11:34 AMLike 0

To which Curve two are you refering? It looks like the 85xx Curves are set to replace the original 83xx Curves, and there's also the 89xx Curves.
I just upgraded to an 8900 myself, and love it.

Personally, I'd just buy the Tour now instead of waiting.
Or do like I did and buy a used BlackBerry and wait. I bought my 8900 used while I wait to fall in love with a new device. No contract, so when something I really want come around, I can buy with a contract for cheap and sell my 8900 for about the same money as I paid.
That was an early production problem, and has been fixed.10-04-09 01:47 PMLike 0 - I'm going to stay with verizon because thats what all my friends and family have.
Thanks for the advice on that! I thought that the next CDMA curve was going to have wifi (not a deal sealer either way).
I'm leaning towards getting the tour now and just ignoring any new devices that come out later that I can't afford haha.10-04-09 08:33 PMLike 0 -
- morgan.... I am a tier three data support representative for Verizon Wireless. If you don't much care for touch screen, go ahead and get the tour. There is nothing that the curve can do that the tour can. I once heard that the tours have trackball issue yet I have yet to get a call about the trackball issue while at work(other than a customer who dropped her phone and the trackball popped out... but thats not a flaw in the phone) The tours are awesome! I have a curve myself and when my account is eligible for an upgrade here at the end of the month I will also get a tour10-05-09 01:58 AMLike 0
- What, besides the new curve and the storm 2 will be coming out, should I be considering and might want to hold off (since I'd be renewing my contract)??10-05-09 08:23 AMLike 0

There is also supposed to be a 8930 Curve, which should be a bit better...
But the BIG one for you CDMA folks is the Tour 2 (Essex).
WiFi, better camera, touchpad...
The downside is that it's ~6 months away.
I dunno if you want to wait that long.
It's because of dilemmas like that that I opted to buy a used phone out of contract. That way when my dream phone comes along, I can grab it!10-05-09 10:20 AMLike 0 - I might just have to land something off contract to fill my impatient little hands. That essex looks really nice....I've also read up on the Moto Sholes (droid now) and that looks really slick as well...just need to see a price and some reviews once it is out.10-05-09 01:32 PMLike 0
