I am not able to find a thread regarding this but know people can help. I can drag and drop my library into the media manager without a hitch, but the media sync won't let me check a box for downloading onto my device.

Are the files in question DRM-free?
Unfortunately not. They are all purchased from the iStore.
Then you will have to burn them to CD and rip them back to iTunes.

I have thought more about this and I find this kind of a bummer. If a BBerry is supported by iTunes and you can sync from iTunes (you can, right?), then it should be able to play the DRMed songs.....but I guess that is the music player in the BB.
Now, wouldn't it be great if there were an iTunes player for the BBerry...one can wish....
Anyways, I did a quick search and there are programs out there that have "virtual CD-RW burners". What this means is you don't actually have to have a CD burner on your computer that has your iTunes directory.
You run the program, tell it what songs to burn, and then it does its virtual burn and places the files in an output directory. This may or may not be any easier, per se, but it does solve the problem for anyone that is running iTunes on a laptop/pc/netbook that does not have an optical drive/slot.
jlb21, that is correct. I've seen those programs also. If you have DRM protected songs from iTunes they won't play anywhere except your PC or your iPod. They need to be converted to play on any mp3 player that is not an iPod.

Really? I am sure I have copied files I bought through iTunes to my media card via windows explorer and it played the files.

They eliminated DRM on their songs at some point in time. Now none of their songs have DRM. Amazon.com also has DRM-free songs. Songs from iTunes had DRM until late last year. It is these older downloads that have to be converted in order to play them. .

And they offered, and perhaps still out there, the option to upgrade any of your older purchased songs to the newer DRM versions (assuming they have it) for like $.30 per.
