Unless the texts contain threats you can forget about the cops. The only way the police can get info from the cellular companies is via a search warrant. A warrant can only be written to investigate a felony. Sending nasty messages is only a misdemeanor at best (In some states it is not a crime at all).
Try the cell company yourself or just ignore the messages. In my 20 plus years of law enforcement, it is my experience the person will get board and just stop. Never under any circumstance answer or reply to any message.
Just to be perfectly clear, if there are threats call the police. Better to be safe than sorry.
Its someone that knows your wife... There are tons of sites where you can send a message and put any "from" number in the box. Sorry to say, calling the cops will be a waste of time. You should ask her who has her number, should be a simple enough thing to narrow down. Maybe one of her friends phone was recently stolen. Sorry can't be of better help.
Thats real smart, then you will get arrested for assault. just call the cops if he's really bothering you
How did you interpret "teach a lesson" into assaulting someone?? Never the intent, there are tons of ways to get back at someone without beating them up...lol
Good luck to you OP, I would be pretty upset if it was happening to my wife, please keep us posted as to what the result to this is.

Check the details of your bill. On some lower end flip phones you can change the callback number on the phone easily. There is nothing to say that is is comming from a BlackBerry by a simple SMS. Check the bill details and it will tell you the actual number that it is calling from.
I see this thread went in a whole other direction, but bringing it back I would say try to block the number with your carrier. If that doesn't work how about changing the number.
