As almost none of you know, the canadian government tested it's phone emergency system at 1:55PM yesterday. All of the phones in my class went crazy with an alarm, except for mine. Nothing happened on my leap. It's not encrypted or anything. What happened? The government uses blackberry, so why didn't mine go off? How will I know if there's a national emergency? AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!...

What OS version are you running? In Canada I think only the latest version (10.3.3.3216) has access to emergency alerts.

It wasn't it just your leap. As long as your device was on lte it should have got the test, but many are reporting they didn't IOS , Android, BlackBerry ...all on different networks . There is obviously some links they need to work out in the system

Notwithstanding that I have also heard it is supposed to work for all LTE phones, Telus for example has said they will only certify test it for certain phones on their network, and BlackBerry 10 devices aren't on that list.

I don't see BB10 phones listed anywhere from any carrier regarding this warning service. Maybe they are not included?

Carrier website only lists BlackBerry Android devices.

    BB10 users aren't worth saving.

Apparently -- if I'm using my Passport at the critical moment, I'll just follow the panickers.

I didn't get anything either. Just a notification from the weather network.

I also read somewhere you need to be on LTE as well. Apparently the geniuses at the CRTC didn't think text messages were complicated enough for an emergency alert system.

My KEYone didn't get the warning! Hopefully, Canada will not be invaded by bloodthirsty aliens intent on eliminating the human race until the KEYtwo comes out.

Maybe that will be part of the sales pitch, "Know when the world is ending with your shiny BlackBerry KEYtwo."

I have 5 devices. Passport, Classic, Dtek 50, Keyone and a Motion. I did not receive any alerts. I also did not see any alerts on TV. Seems like the test was hit and miss. Canadian Government should have bought Athoc from Blackberry.... The rest of the world does.

OP, according to the media, there are only 50% success rate for the test. in addition, there are few spams pretend as test text, but will link you to spam website. So I consider myself lucky, not get the notification on z30 (but roger's TV were buzz like crazy... you have to find "exit" on remote to disable it... very annoying). I'll just run for cover next time saw the neighbours dogs and cats all ran out at same time... (enough noise for sure).

I am in Canada and none of my Passport or z30 have that OS version.
    Both unlocked and on Rogers.

If you go to Hub -> Settings, do you see an "Emergency Alerts" section at the bottom?

So both are on .3216 with the region set to Canada? Did your Z10 get the test alert (assuming it's on LTE)?
