The normal Maps app can get a GPS signal just fine, but Google Maps can't get the signal. It only shows me where I am according to the cell towers or whatever.

How do I fix this? I'd much rather use Google Maps because of the satellite view and I just think that Google Maps is better.

    Help?

If you start BBMaps first, and let it connect to the satellites, does Google Maps then show your location to within a few meters?

In that case, this procedure might help you: http://forums.crackberry.com/f41/rea...v1-0-a-192999/

    I haven't tried it because I haven't needed it.

Holy cow that looks confusing. =\

I don't know too much about this stuff... I have to do that even though my GPS does work with BBmaps?

I had this problem too, then upgraded to 5.0 and re-downloaded google maps, works fine now.

There's a good chance that procedure may help you. It was created for users (like you) whose carrier doesn't block the GPS, but who can't get it to work reliably. It won't help users who have Assisted GPS devices on Verizon. The 9630 uses Autonomous GPS and should work fine.

Could I just go to my carrier and see if they can fix it? lol

That would be a reasonable request.

But, wouldn't it be nice to not have to rely on some tech who might not have a clue, either? I was in the store getting my new Tour Sunday, and they were having problems switching my contacts and Calendar over. While they fumbled with their machine, I quietly reached over, took Tour in hand, downloaded Google Sync, ran it and before they finished getting my contacts uploaded, I was ready to go. They looked on with stunned disbelief.

You certainly can, but your likelihood of success is vanishingly small. You can be sure the store clerk will not know how to perform that procedure any better than you do.
