I fell a sleep watching youtube and I had it set to low vol so I wouldn't wake up my roommate. I had the alarm set and everything so it was surprising to me when I woke up and no alarm rang. Turns out the alarm is connected to your media volume which I wasn't used to since the s3 I had had a seperate function from alarm and media volume. I think with upcoming updates the alarm menu should have its own seperate volume bar. Shouldn't be too hard to integrate.

The volume on the alarm is not tied to your multimedia volume... it is separately set in your alarm settings.

Click on "Alarm Tone" when you are in Alarm options. The volume setting is right there.

Just an FYI on the subject, I have had one instance where the alarm on my Z10 activated but without audio. A reboot sorted it. So it bears repeating, don't rely on the BlackBerry alarm, or any computer, if it important. Always set two alarms when it matters. And when it really matters use a mechanical or battery alarm clock.

I've used my BlackBerry alarm since 2007 and have never had it not go off unless I made a stupid mistake, like set it to PM on accident, had the wrong time, forgot to plug it in on low battery or it wasn't set in the cradle evenly(9900 had a shallow cradle). That being said, if it is a critical wake up time I set two alarms. I also can't leave the alarm by my head, I will roll over, turn it off and fall asleep and not remember doing it.

I use it every day and the only time it has failed is when I didn't set it properly!

yea same here, a couple times I've set the alarm 12 hours off (didn't notice the blue vs orange while hurridly setting it)
Can't blame BlackBerry for my silly mistakes

My BlackBerrys (including the Z10) are what made me stop using an alarm clock. They've never failed me, happy to say.

This reminds me of last Friday.

I've got three phones. My alarm is set on all three. Guess what I did Friday?!?!? Hit dismiss on ALL THREE DEVICES.

I was late to work. User error x 3 = oversleeping.

    True story.

I've done that. I didn't chalk it up to user error though. I just blamed it on my not giving a isht. =D

This thread does beg the question... When was the last time you have purchased an alarm clock or clock radio? I don't think my bedroom has even had a clock of any kind for the last 5 or 6 years.

My alarm is all messed up! I would set it at a certain time, of course, but will go off at a different time much later. I can't rely on my phones alarm so I also use my PlayBook alarm as a backup. Which also isn't too reliable...
