I just needed to get this off my chest. Blackberry phones produce some of the best sound via speaker or audio jack. They've always been superior to other brands (blows Iphone out of this universe). The music coming out of my Q10 was superb, but the quality dropped off since I've moved on to the classic, I'm a bit disappointed but still far superior to the iphone 6s that my lady friend owns.

I also had a passport and priv for a short period and enjoyed the high quality sound those devices produced, especially the music reproduction coming out of the priv.

PS.. Switching from 4G LTE to 2G is a godsend, also available on the priv.

My God the Priv's speaker is awful. The Leap is really bad too. I've also never liked the sound quality through headphones. Way too quiet.

Meh, running with an iPod Touch has better music (for me) volume than my Q10.

I'm curious. How do BlackBerry speakers blow those of iPhones "out of the universe?" What technology enables this? Self-sealing stem bolts, perhaps?

I'd give it to the Passport and the Z30 because they are stereo. Other than that, no.

You know what had a freakin awesome loud speaker? The Bold 9790. That thing was Z30 level.

Oh, we're discussing external speaker ... yeah, my Q10 has a decent one.

I realize that bluetooth actually degrades audio quality, but when I switched from my Q10 to a Passport, I had to turn down the bass in my car stereo because it was obviously deeper (extended frequency response). The midrange is also noticeably clearer and the high frequencies are less 'peaky' and bright. I'll plug it in through the headphone jack next time.

Bold 9000 was the king of BBOS devices by a long shot when it came to external speakers.

Gotta disagree my friend. I've got both in front of me and the 9790 blows away the 9900.

9000 not the 9900. 9900 and 9790 are trash mono speakers. The 9000 was the best stereo speakers Blackberry has ever made.

My black Passport on launch day had really loud loudspeakers. The white one I bought about a year down the line is like 80% in terms of volume output and quality of the black Passport.

Also the balance is off on the dual loud speakers on the white pp, with the left side being louder than the right.

Oops. Totally misread that as 9900. My bad. Wouldn't have expected the 9000 to be better. But I've never had one. Cool to know. Maybe I'll find one cheap to play with.

No complaints about the z30 speakers. Probably the best speakers on a phone I've had. Only the PlayBook had better audio in my opinion of all the devices I've owned.

This is why I'm happy with my Passport's speakers. Didn't know that the Z30 is stereo as well. Good to know..

My Classic has an unbelievable speaker! Took my friends by surprise when I first played my playlist out loud. Definitely the best speaker I have used on a smartphone so far. Although I agree the sound is a bit too sharp with the earphones on.
