Buy Nokia, Prepare RIM's Grave - TheStreet

If you would be so kind as to copy and paste in a quote box please.
"For all intents and purposes, RIM has told investors, in no uncertain terms, that it has absolutely no plans to make any real change. The company intends to move forward with a pipeline that does not look a whole lot different from previous, failed efforts. In fact, you can hardly call the product RIM is about to stake its survival on -- Blackberry 10 -- all that meaningfully distinct from anything that has come before it."
I don't think this is true at all. RIM is making big changes and BB10 appears to be meaningfully distinct from what RIM has created before. The risk is that it's not distinct from their competition.
And the article is right about the marketing. It's been tone deaf and laughable for a long time.
Real douchey that the following is noted well below the last page of a three pages article:
At the time of publication, the author was long MSFT, NOK and P.
There should be rules that these sorts of disclaimers have to be placed at the top and bottom of each page of an article that is slamming the competition to his stock portfolio.
I think it's called "putting your mouth where your money is."
Jim Cramer is a Farce.
Most of the "street" are sheep.
The real money is made inside, always was, always will be.
The internet makes everyone with a blog, or opinion an expert.
RIM is in a mess, nothing new. Apple is ruling - thru pouring piles of money to advertise its "new" products - mostly the same but with a different numeral - fact. Nokia is still selling a ton of phones. Samsung is getting scary. Google has a motherload of cash. now it has a phone - LOOK OUT! get a good product, tons of slick adverts, and people convert. Sad fact of life. All I want is a secure and usable phone. Come on BB10!! BTW most of my iphone buddies love my PB. Fact - I dont let them take it, just use.
:D
Nokia is losing well over a Billion a quarter. The writer of this article wants RIM to die because that WP7's and Nokia's only hope at becoming the third OS, and he is long on both. I think BB10 is going to solidify RIM in the three spot.
The author, Rocco Pendola, writes a negative RIM article for 'The Street' almost weekly. Same talking points, article after article, while ignoring the basic tenants of RIM's strengths.
If I didn't know any better, one could almost think that he was being paid to slam RIM with such regularity......
The premise that BB10 is not a huge change in direction is just factually wrong. By finally abondoning JAVA, RIM has moved into the 21st Century. If he had said the move should have come 2-3 years ago, I would agree. If he had said a release of a modern smartphone 6 months from now may not save RIMM, I'd agree. But to base his whole conclusion and assertion that nothing is changing with BB10 - that's just factually wrong. BB10 is a WHOLE NEW Operating System. Everything about it has changed from the bottom up of the 7 BB OSes that preceded it. RIM finally buried JAVA. Maybe too late. But the did finally bury it.
Could you please remove this link and quote the article ?
Same old song, copy/pasted as a ritournelle. Let them go.
instead, read some interesting point of views (incl. comments) here : http://seekingalpha.com/article/6032...n?source=yahoo
Author got called out by the bear. :D
Exactly. Rocco pendola has been slamming rim on seeking alpha for a long time. I've sent him a few messages that led to blocking my comments on their sites. I said nothing in the messages that was crude or demeaning just pointed out his bias towards rim. Funny how sensitive he is when you call him out on it. Shows his true colours. Although he resides in California his favorite NHL team happens to be the leafs. Found that out in one of his negative articles about rim. Probably a native ontarian who went to become a starlet in Hollywood.
" Nobody wants you hear Rocco, so get yourself together, take your stick and puck and shove it up your ihole....dirtbag.
Why? I've noticed this request on a lot of threads, I don't think Crackberry would be too impressed if all of it's news-stories were cut and paste onto other sites depriving them of the link-through. If people don't want to read negative press, they shouldn't read them, rather than reproducing in full without permission.
if the Article is good, Then people should visit it,
but really these negative Articles shouldn't even be posted on crackberry giving the bad press links on sites that get spidered!
Articles good and bad provide the Blackberry users with all available news. A person that believes in their product should not try to ignore news. Ignoring bad news is what has gotten Blackberry into the 3rd place spot they are in now. Let's hope BB10 is the miracle we all expect, but we can't expect every non Blackberry fan to believe the same. Sometimes people have a better view from the outside.
I simply dont know why any of you care....you cannot do anything about it, and the bad press will continue until RIM performance substantially improves.
its quite simple... if bad press hammers RIM stock then future good results at RIM will make the gain multiple even higher....
So, while biased reporting from the above may be "putting his mouth where his money is", then surely the correct answer is, rather than complain here, simply do the reverse and "put your money where your mouth is"?..
Its all based in bull-crap is why people get all uppity. Accurate and complete wouldnt get burned at the stake. The crack heads just wouldnt like you.
did they advise people to buy facebook shares lol
Because CB has a good S.E.O ranking and by linking http address you give the site more credits ... [for legal concerns, it's good and OK to quote also the author and site names]
Windows phone is unimaginably crippled by a lack of developer support. Other than that, it's fine.
the first platform who should not comment on other's lack of dev support is BB...
Last time you used one and the model of it is...?
I won a Lumia 710, and in the short time so far I've played with it, it's far smoother, faster, and better integrated than my 9900 and iPhone 4 COMBINED. For an entry level device I'm astonished because it smokes my other phones - I can only imagine how the 900 performs if this is what the basic model does...
I got blisters on me fingers! from using Tapatalk.
