Can someone who has an account over there please take the Forbes author to task in the comments, or even send something to the editor about them passing on more of this stupid FUD?

Cute article. It fails to address the top layer of encryption: the PIN, which is unique to the recipient's device. To begin, you would have to hack BBM. Then convince BBM that there are multiple devices with the same PIN and that it is OK contrary to the logic of the programming.

It would be easier to steal the intended target's phone. But then BlackBerry security would have probably wiped the phone.

Done and done. If you read the comments section, everyone is schooling the author. I'm not surprised Forbes keeps spewing these inaccurate articles given that Forbes is so far up Apple's ( )o( )

What's interesting is the timing of this article and apparently how outdated this is ( bug known since 2011??). In the meantime, Samsung just announced their KNOX capability which I would say is similar to the BB10 balance. Unfreaking believable!

the crux of the whole issue that they assume it is easy to crack the encryption key because it is the same for all blackberry phones
