    hey guys.. i had a problem where the File free would go less then a million and my messages would get deleted.. I freed up space and got it over a million but im still a little worried. I got a memory card but my Free space is only at 18687861 and if it goes less then a million i get my messages deleted.. what do i do? i make sure every app is close.. is there something wrong with my phone? please help!

    Battery pulls always help. Updating to the newest OS is always a good idea. Never let it drop below 12mb if you can help it.

    Have you downloaded programs that take up a lot of memory recently? You can delete some of the programs to free up space. Also Blackberry 101 has a page dedicated to "How to Free Up Memory on your BlackBerry Smartphone"

    Your memory card has nothing to do with your file free. another option would be to delete your help file just to free up memory and make sure your pictures are going to your memory card only. Other than that, search CB, there are probably a milion articles on memory optimization

    You seem to be looking in Status. You want to look in Options>Memory>App Memory. That will get you your available memory.

    My Curve is starting up with 25+ Mb, but that is fully optimized condition after removing some unused core applications.

    My Pearl is closer to normal at 18+ Mb.

    You can do much better the 1 Mb.

    my 8330 boots up with 56mb free

    oh and btw, you posted your memory up as 18mb free, thats 18 million
