Does anyone know whatever happend to the rumored "Monet" from almost a year ago?
3 guesses.
Is deep-sixed a decent guess?:)
it would be nice for another option besides a Key series phone.
What kind of option are you referring to?
What exactly do you have in mind?
Came from the Priv and loved the screen size and keyboard options.
I have it. They made one, and I bought it.
And it's AWESOME!
First off how is your Z30 holding up?
The Monet or codename BBJ100 never became an actual device as far as we know. Just pure speculation by the CrackHeads on this site.
We will probably never know what Monet was going to be. Could be the last codename we ever will know. I personally remember waiting for the Essex to come out (oh the good old days).
Sadly, it looks like the end. And that really is disappointing for us, the consumers.
I've accepted it and moved on. However, should another BlackBerry, by some miracle or act of God, come to be in the future, then I will definitely consider it.
I live in Essex UK I didn't even hear about that. But had it materialized I would have had a look at it
It was a code name found in the software, but yeah just speculation on what it was.
Could have been something for BBMo (KEY3) or could have been Bullitt Group or NTD moving forward on their licensing just as Punkt did...
I thought the Punkt was the BBI100 (that's the letter i in there).
So, it could be a placeholder for some other device that BBmo will provide the security.
I'm sad.
At least I have the BlackBerry keyboard on my slab.
Sorry I now realize you already knew that. Ugh.
It would be quite funny if TCL sold the "Monet/BBJ100" patents to UniHertz
If it had a keyboard, it probably was a BlackBerry design being licensed by TCL... so they couldn't sell it.
Do wonder how some of that sublicensing worked between TCL and Optiemus...
Great post, thanks! I'm also sad about this info as the BlackBerry phones I've owned have been great. I still think the Priv was the best phone I've owned - great screen, great camera. I guess it's time to find a new device.
That implies there was something to bury...
I'd just like a new Motion. I bought the one I currently have from Amazon in 2018. It's holding on, just about tapped out. Before that I had a DTEK 50. For me it's not about the keyboard anymore as I'm used to the touchscreen. Sad because I was holding out for a new BB, but I guess I need to figure out a new brand. :(
For now you can buy any Android Slab and install the suite of Apps and have most the BlackBerry experiences. Buy a Samsung KNOX phone and install the suite and you'll have the security as well.
I'm going to go see the Monet exhibit tomorrow at the Denver Art Museum... 😉
Bob
That's going to be the plan, at least I'll have somewhat of a Blackberry phone. Thanks!
Hopes and dreams, D3. Hopes and dreams.
Point taken ! !
