By default Blackberry Messenger will be in the instant messaging folder. You can open the app from there and read/delete the message.
You cannot log out from BBM, it is a constant connection, so if you really are not interested in BBM you're only real option is to uninstall the app altogether.
However, if you have friends who have a BB then give it a go. It's once of the great things of Blackberry, far exceeding sms text messaging.
One of the only reasons I still use a BB is because of BBM :p (i basically live on it...)
But yah, just go into your instant messaging folder, go into BBM and then click the message, and do what you need. (you don't even have to reply or anything to get rid of the notification)
thanks for your help, but I am still lost. Where is the instant messaging folder? I have email, text, phone directory, phone log, browser, etc.
Go to your app menu/app screen by pushing the BB menu button from the homescreen. You should have a folder there that says "instant messaging"

If you haven't found it yet and you are running OS6 you can search from the home screen. I'm on my Blackberry so I can't see what phone you are using. If not you'll have to search for the messaging folder the others mentioned.
