I recently updated my aps. selection on my Style, and now the icon for instant messaging from one BB to another BB is gone, whats up, anyone know?

Try a battery pull. If that doesn't fix it go to your applications menu and see if Blackberry Messenger is still installed. If it is try to delete it and go to app world to reinstall it
