Have a look here, couldn't believe my eyes:

First Ubuntu phones revealed (pictures) - CNET

Even check out the comments, people are applauding the design, but this design has been around for a while, about 1 1/2 years soon, LOL

Had to leave a comment, majority is oblivious of the design's origins.....

The backside of the BQ Aquaris, not the Meizu. The shape of the corners, the edges (on the backside), the camera placement, the volume rocker...

Yes, the holes at the bottom are HTC'ish

And no buttons, all edge swipes, bottom up, top down, and left side inwards (side menu, then open apps), right side inwards (switch between open apps)... not quite like BB10, but comparable in a way.

If BBM makes it to Ubuntu there is virtually no reason to stay with BB. Since it is open source it can be secured and modified without limit.
There will be a way of installing the apks, for sure.

They sadly also announced they shut down their own cloud storage and music store, Ubuntu One. But that's what a complete ecosystem needs...

Hope we see some BlackBerry consumer cloud services soon. Hope...

Eh, many design elements from the Z10 were borrowed from the iPhone, which has similar corners and edges. The speaker grill on the bottom side of the Ubuntu phone, which does not exist for the Z10, and the camera placement is certainly reminiscent of iPhone.

The device is certainly more comparable to the iPhone than the Z10. It's more likely copied from the more popular device than the obscure Z10. When Blackberry copies Apple company, fans deny it. Then when another company copies Apple, fans claim they copied Blackberry!

All these companies should stop copying others and have only original ideas like BlackBerry has.

I mean just look at the crap that both Nokia and Palm have pulled!

Coincidence? I think not! Obviously these companies must be so desperate to steal ideas from BlackBerry that they have resorted to using time travel to get away with it!

I can stick a BB logo on that, and at a casual glance 90% would say it's a Z10 (of those who know the Zeddy, of course)

This new D-Link is replacing the old Netgear. Installed that today for a client. Yes, it's mimicking the new Mac Pro desktop.

Somewhat ironic considering the Z10 and BB10 is a straight lift of the Meego Harmattan OS as found on the limited availability Nokia N9 of a couple years ago.

I see what you're saying...it's rectangular, it has a camera and a screen. I'm certain BlackBerry will sue. No, in fact, I insist that they do.

Yeah, but if you stuck an HTC logo on it, people would mistake it for an HTC phone. I don't feel like that argument really holds up. Other than being a rectangular phone with a camera on the back corner (like a lot of phones), I don't see that much resemblance.

It would be like saying Ford copied GM because they put out red cars with four wheels and doors on either side.

There are definitely some similarities between the iPhone and the Z10. I wouldn't say that one is a copy of the other, however.

That's literally a trashy design. I can't believe Netgear is dumb enough to copy the Mac Pro design...

As for the Ubuntu phone looking like a Z10, only a bit from the backside. Nothing at all from the front.

I have to agree though, there is definitely some resemblance with the Z10. The toggles on the right and the button top centre (or SIM card slot, I can’t really discern it), the whole-glass front. The Z10 is one of the few phones that has almost no bells or whistles, it’s a very minimal design and entirely unicolour.

That doesn’t mean that I think BQ did something wrong. There is only so much you can do with smartphones these days to stand out. Sometimes the best design is simply one that is already in use and it shouldn’t prevent other manufacturers from adopting it, unless they are patently attempting to free ride on another’s success. It doesn’t turn the Aquaris into a BlackBerry. Coincidentally, I think the other phone reminds me a lot of my iPhone 3G.
