since im still kinda a new BB user is their a way to lock my 8310 curve so i can keep snooping people out of my business thanks alot

Several ways:

1) If you have Dial From Homescreen turned off, simply press "K"

2) Set it to lock when holstering or in a specified time of non-use from Options

3) Convenience key method
Options > Screen/Keyoard > Left Side Convenience Key Opens: > Keyboard Lock

4) Autolock App -OTA link (from phone browser) - http://www.geekandproud.net/blackber...k/autolock.jad

Also remember that if you set up a password, that if the snoopers put in the wrong password too many times that it will wipe your phone. So keep your backups current.
