I agree with the fact that there isn't anywhere near a significant market for it. But 2-3% market share is a pretty significant figure in a 2.1 billion device forecast for a properly sized company. As the pie gets bigger, even the smallest slice can feed you.
You just need to fight about dozen other also-rans to get there.

That's the competition that spurs real innovation. As a consumer I prefer this smaller segment of the market. If i was more app dependent it would be much more difficult.

Funny because with Android on their new devices they continue to lose marketshare. That .1% represents the BB brand in whole. Who cares if the Android community enjoys 80% marketshare when you cant even sell a device with the most popular OS in the world.
The potential sales of a non Android device are without a doubt much greater than what they have achieved so far. Blackberry just did it soo wrong that they almost failed on purpose.
    88%, not 80%.

Apple is 12%. Microsoft and BB10/BBOS no longer register.

The figures are based on OS, not brand.

Hindsight is 20/20, but if they were destined to be late to the market with the successor to BBOS, they should have gone Android. BB10 destroyed the brand.

Yeah i know. It was an accurate way to view BB market share until now since their had their own OS.

I think BB10 had plenty of potential to hold on to their market but between having no real device paths and very poor advertisement, people were either uninformed or lost interest. Still today you will find Z10 owners longing for a sequel device.

BB10 was dead before it got out the door. Again, hindsight is 20/20, but this fact is irrefutable now. There was no possible path to success by 2013.

Was never a good way to measure BB marketshare... as it lumped two very different and incompatible OS together. But then there probably was never a point where BB10 sales were relevant. In 2013, it was about platforms... not just operating systems. And while BlackBerry had the beginnings of a good OS (still in beta in 2013), they didn't have a full platform.

But that's the past, going forward we'll have to see what TCL does with the BlackBerry name and smartphones.

Removeable battery, size like the Q10 or Z30, 4row qwerty keyboard-touch like on the priv, toolbelt like on the classic. Implement the 3 android function keys into the existing BB Toolbelt. That would be great!!!

How does one get a 4:3 portrait screen on a device the size of a Q10, including a tool belt? Do the math.

So it's all an equation is it? Well, we should probably all be relieved that BlackBerry had the sense to offload device design to another company, rather than continue to pretend they can do it in-house with software engineers. Lol.

It could literally be Solid Explorer with only the name and icon changed, but those who insist BlackBerry spoonfeed every app for them would still be raving.

improve low light sensitivity by aggregate and average 4 pixels for example... or use low density of pixels... reduce process power, improve the light sensitivity (larger pixel), forget the spec buyers... Use the dtek 60 21 mp camera as lesson learn - the image quality matters more than spec (the 21 mp camara can be used only if you know the optical trade offs, such as low light condition.. and please the spec users only put a foot in your own mouth... DO NOT listen to them. just focus to get the good product out, I mean good design and good quality build if you want a flagship...DO NOT copy others (bench mark- yes, not copy). you want unique stand out handset, not a "me too".

For me a full touch Q5 with a 12MP camera, make it an iPhone SE killer.
    And a 9 inch PlayBook 2 please.

I have no high spec requirements, because overall I was happy with the performance of all BB10 devices, only the camera should be improved.

Tablets segment is almost Dead, BlackBerry in general is strugling to make profit on basic devices, they can't go tablet, they don't have the Cash to burn like they did have in 2010
