    Hi all,

I recently purchased a Bold 9000 for super cheap just to have as a memory of what BlackBerry was back at its peak in 2008. Never intended to use the device for anything specific.

In any event I maybe getting a 2nd line for work and I thought it might be cool to have the 9000 strictly for calls and messaging. I have a 9900 locked to Wind that works perfectly but when I pop the Sim card in the 9000 all I can get is Wind Away network. I am not also able to connect to BIS.

I just realized that the Rogers unlocked 9000 might not be compatible with Wind. Which way can I confirm if the 9000 will indeed work?

I asked this question in the 9000 forum but given the lack of 9000's out in the wild I don't know how much activity occurs in the 9000 forum.

    Thanks everyone!

I don't think the device has the proper 3G bands for WIND.

The specs I can find show that the Bold 9000 is compatible with 850, 1900, and 2100 HSDPA, while WIND uses 1700/2100 AWS.

So you must be roaming (WIND Away) because it can't lock onto a WIND 3G signal.

    Hi,

I don't think this is what is needed. On my current Bold 9900 that is locked and purchased from Wind I can pop in my SIM card and after a minute or so I am connected to BIS and off I go, if need be.

I believe the issue may be with the actual device not being able to connect to Wind's network?? Almost like it's a full roaming mode.

I know that not all carriers support every single model of device.
