I realize there are probably more men on this forum than women, but I really am interested to know which BB has the better typing keyboard for those of us with longer nails? I'm not talking about daggers, but nicely squared-off nail tips that are kept just past the end of my fingers.

I am mostly happy with the way my Curve feels to type on, but I do make mistakes due to the nails. I may upgrade to the Tour one day, and have heard its keyboard is smaller and feels "different".

Or would going to a touchscreen when the Storm 2 comes out be better???

I don't know about the Tour, but I've tried typing on my friend's Storm and can't do it for the life of me because of my nails. She has a hard time sometimes too.

I had a Pearl and now a Curve and don't have any problems. I do use my nails to type though. I think that's why the Storm was such a problem for me.

    Hope that helps...

Oh yes! It does help!!! I've been trying to decide which BB to upgrade to in the next month or so. You've just about ruled out the Storm 2, when it is launched. So, I guess it is the Tour..but will try out the keyboard when I have access to it...may be a bit, since I'm still on Alltel and they don't have the Tour...yet. If I have a hard time with the Tour keyboard, then what?? (and for you fellows that might suggest going to an even shorter nail, they are just fine!:-)

Ok, will do, as soon as both are available in my area (when Verizon takes over here, I suppose). I've learned to type on my Garmin pretty well with its touchscreen, so I guess I can type on a Storm, also.

I'm a guy, but when I forget to cut my thumb nails, I don't really feel a difference between typing with my nails or with my thumbs themselves. Both are easy.

I keep my nails short. I used to work in a chemical lab, and long nails broke through rubber gloves. It is also easier to type with short nails.

Sorry, but I do not have long nails.

If they are really long it won't work but just beyond the finger tips should be fine.
Typing on the storm takes some getting used to but now I'm pretty fast with short or long nails.

I find that either way it takes a small period of time to figure out the correct style and pressure for properly typing after any change.

    Well that was helpful

My mom has somewhat long nails and she can type fairly well on my Tour. A little bit of stumbling and mistypes but nothing out of the ordinary. My best advice is find yourself a verizon store and spend a good few minutes typing out text messages on each.

The storm is heat sensitive so using your nails wont do anything you have to use your finger therefore having longer nails would be a major fall back.
since I play guitar I have short nails all the time anyway haha

My wife has long nails. We got her the Pearl Flip, large keys and very easy to type on. Have been a great device so far, she loves it.

Omg totally. I tried the tour keyboard and it was so small to me. I really like the storm and after a while you'll get so used to the way to position ur fingers. I have square tips so I was thinking the same thing before I got the storm

Thanks to all who have replied to my question!
I, too, have short and square nail tips. Sometimes I use my thumbtips to type and sometimes will use the end of my nail. Either way, I do make mistakes and end up correcting them more than I'd like.
Guess I'll have to wait until the Storm 2 comes out and test that out. One more feature that isn't related to my question, about the Storm is the screen size and my weak eyes. I'm thinking I would be able to see the text onscreen easier with a Storm.

I just keep my thumb nails somewhat shorter than the rest so I can type on my curve. I use the actual thumb verses the nail so it bugs me when I cant feel the keys.

The 8320 Curve is definitely better for long nails compared to the 8900.

I just keep them short now :/

I have long acrylics, square tip, and the Bold has been the best for me to type on with no issues.
