No, thorsten is out because he failed to show that he could turn the ship around.
Marketing was only a part of his failures.

TH is out because he couldn't stem BlackBerry's bleeding and the thought that fresh blood may help.
Though the OP is spot on for mentioning marketing - that really needs to be addressed.
Something needs to be done to make BlackBerry seem attractive. Crackberry aside: no one cares for BlackBerry - as evinced by the sales figures.
Change that.
I don't know how but the insane advertising has to be germain to any discussion re the poor perception BlackBerry projects.
Maybe this interim ceo will take a huge chunk of that loan and hire some professional ad and media companies.

i can agree with this post, this was one of the major downfalls of blackberry, the marketing was a bag full of....... u walk down the street and ask what is blackberry ten 4 out of 5 people will look at you as if you speaking alien, i have shown so many of my friends on these other platforms what my z10 can do and its like a kid in the candy store they were amazed and didn't want to let my z10 go, Marketing was a bigggggggg failure and trust me most of these other guys rely heavily on Marketing, can u honestly say u have seen a lot of BB10 marketing?
Someone needs to be held accountable for this! Lack of marketing

Even the Indonesian & Indian users are sick of BlackBerry lack of marketing.
F! THORSTEN HEINS!
Hope the new CEO realize this thing.. *peace*
Heins was being kicked out because he has no charisma and he has no vision too.
He has vision. Only lack of action.

That's the problem.
Just like dreaming & no intention to wake up and do some act, but shamelessly hope something big to happen..
Not only TH should go but the head of Marketing should go as well.
