I for one would love to see a limited Edition $1000+ Keytwo Pro "Limited Edition" with the top end premium materials and specs and would be more than willing to pay for it...

I think there is a niche market amongst certain business types and professionals for this where cost is not the overriding issue... for an exclusive high end pkb mobile phone.

Has TCL considered such an initiative?

It could also help build the status again as a "brand" highly sought after... but it must be limited production and top end in every way...

    Comments?

Not a bad idea as long as it is profitable.

Given the markup on the normal KEY2 then it would have a hefty per-device profit, even if they put specs that fit the price instead of falling short like usual.

Yup. All for it....now, how much would you pay?

I will start: top of the line everything, no compromise $1500 I am in.

I could go for that. Here are some suggestions for specs I would like to see upgraded: compatible with the new 5G speeds so as to give it longevity, upgrade to top of the line camera(s), some degree of water resistance, stereo speakers, wireless charging, get on board with one of those new 700s processors. I will start saving now. Perhaps they could also make a limited edition Priv2 style slider with these features ... I would pay even more for one of those.

The regular KEY devices are essentially limited editions.

    I couldn't fathom the price of a 1,000 unit run. Maybe $2000-$3000 ?

Put your number on the table. What is it? Would you fork $1500.00?

Again, we are talking no compromise device here.

If I knew about it in advance including some of the specs upgrades, I would start saving for it. Then I could see myself paying $1000 for a KEYpro, and more for a flagship everything slider like the Priv. For one of those I might pay $1500. This is US dollars.
PS but with inflation, you could add a couple hundred to each.

I would certainly like the KeyTwo Pro with highest processor, higher quality screen, better camera

$1500-2,000. Could they release such a phone in limited production run...to test the waters?

It would appeal to the higher net worth types but there IS a market for that, I believe...

    Same form factor as KeyTwo...

For Band 71 4G-LTE, AMOLED screen, current battery life, increased processor power (meaning bigger battery), increased RAM, 128GB onboard storage and a camera that works?

This is starting to sound like PRIV2 without the slider.

Adding more RAM isn't that big of a deal.

    Changing the chipset is.....
    1) You have to make a minimum order of some sort, being that TCL doesn't use a more premium processor than the SD660 on any of their phones. It would be pretty expensive to say order 5K SD845.
    2) Software... you be bringing a whole new line of drivers into the mix. That would take a little work on the software side of things.
    3) Updates... you be adding very different devices with their own variant of the OS.
    4) Variants.... probable need to do a world phone - more complexity and more cost.
    5) Engineering... someone would have to layout the chipset, especially if the components won't fit like there existing.
    6) Limited Edition... implies their margins will be higher.

Trim it in plated gold and number them.... Even if they charge $3,000, they probable could still sell 5K of them.

But it's not about the unit profits, it's the overall cost and tiny numbers.
