I have my bb set to "keep messages for 15 days", but this doesn't seem to have any affect, there are both sms & emails in the list from well older than that...? Am I not understanding the purpose of this option properly?

When did you change the options? Don't the changes you make only take effect after you make them?
Have you done the ever reliable battery pull that fixes everything?

I've done a battery pull and have a 1GB memory card - but I never use it because it only holds media (pictures,movies,audio)! of which I have none, memory card would be more useful if it extended the memory of the phone to hold apps, messages, calendar, etc etc
