OK no warranty. Just if you sent it to blackberry to get the screen replaced, how much would it cost? Anyone know?

Really?

The part was $52 on ebay and I have a guy that has changed a few galaxy 3 screens. Hopefully it is similar

So I shouldn't mention that I dropped my Z30 from the back of a pickup truck to an asphalt surface? Lol banged up the corner a bit but that's it. Works better now I think! Lol

Sorry for your loss but now it should work like an IPhone at least. You need a Q10.
I was mostly pissed because I just took the case off... and frustrated because I was loving the phone..... I did like it without the case much better (for the hour I had it)... but that obviously is not an option for me..... I was not smashed at the time of the smash... but wanted a nice stiff drink afterward...
I have a Q10... I use the Q10 for work during the week and the Z30 on the weekends... Guess I am going full Q10 for awhile....
You never told us how you managed to smash it like that. Looks like three blows based on the picture. Did you take a hammer to it?
No Hammer... getting out of my car and it fell out of my jacket pocket onto the pavement...face down (obviously)
Just a thought...... Verizon wants to charge me $499 for replacement.... I know that they are the only one carrying it (and they know it!).... should I go to Sprint or ATT and get the Z10??? It would save me a bunch of money and I can stick it to Verizon a little.... I never used the Z10 before..... How is it compared to the Z30?????
Sorry for your loss. I am running my Z30 naked (just got it yesterday). Your post made me order an Otterbox Defender.

I think your hands got used to the feeling with the case on and had a hard time adjusting without it. Sorry for your loss. My Z10 once fell to the ground. Although it didn't cracked the screen, it did had a small dent on its side. I did fell bad after that. What more if that was a Z30.

My friend has cracked the whole top left corner of his Z10. Actually so badly that when he has to take calls the normal speaker doesnt work and he has to put it on loud speaker.
Other then that the phone still works perfectly.
OP sorry to see that happened to you, can only image how terrible that must feel.
I think around 70% of iPhone screens are cracked to be honest and my z10 has a few scratches on the front plastic bit and a few tiny scratches on the screen. Someone ran past me in school and knocked it right out of my hand on to the floor face first, everyone around me heard the impact but when I picked it up it was fine. I don't use a case but I think it's just luck when you drop it along with a tiny bit of being careful which we all know slowly wears off the longer you've had your phone

I love my Z10, don't get me wrong, but I don't think you would be happy with it after the Z30. The battery life is about 1/3 of the Z30's, from what I hear. Also, there's no FM radio.

Hi BobPepe,
In my experience, if you're careful and patient, phone repairs are quite easy. The only teardown information I could find is here: http://forums.crackberry.com/blackbe...photos-885271/
The person who pulled his apart said the same thing about removing 10 screws and it being an easy fix as someone said earlier in this thread. If you do it yourself, I recommend putting a tea-towel or tablecloth down over your work area. It catches those little screws before they hit the floor, and keeps you from scratching anything on the table.
Best of luck with it....
The other thing I'd recommend is that you watch a few teardown videos online (or go over to ifixit.com and look at the step-by-step pictures), so that you get a sense of what you'll be doing, and the way that the cable connectors come undone. If you watch videos for a few different phones, you should get a sense of most of the possibilities.
Murphy's law is always there at your side!!
Yeah its pretty simple. You will need the small torx screwdriver bits. You take the screws out and the screen comes loose, there is a ribbon cable you carefully slide out and the screen is off. Slide the ribbon cable back into its slot from the new screen and put the screws back in.
Of all the phones I have ever taken apart the Z30 is the simplest by far, its really only 3 pieces the screen, frame (grey part) and main board.
Maybe that should be advertised as well? ;-)
Fix everything yourself, just like a VW beetle!
"No Q10?" -> "Buy from Chen... "
That's probably because the case makes it easier to hold on to. I never had a case on my 9000 bacause the leather back had a good grip. Now, when I take my case off my Q10 it feels slippery. I just have a soft S-Line case, but it works. I feel for you!!
