Sad sad day. Attachment 447566
Oh dear. Recently looked more inevitable by the day but still sad to see it written down. Fingers crossed BB can work with someone else but this does look like the end doesn't it.

Actually surprising they made this statement....
I'll be surprised if current inventory last till August.
I know this doesn't mean there cannot be another partnership with another company. It's just an official statement and once the "tech" community spreads this, I don't see them coming back.
Ouch...
A sad day indeed.
I hope this will be a new beginning for Blackberry, now BlackBerry can license the keyboard or others patents to a real Android Phone Maker it could be a great partnership.
Bye-bye BlackBerry smartphones.
Now I can save my visit of TCL at the MWC. I will use the time and have a good meal.
There were a total of six partnership.... I'm not sure #7 has much of a chance.
I think they have pretty much ended the mobility division at BlackBerry Ltd....
They must feel inventory is sufficiently low to allow them to post this. Either that, or there is some contractual obligation to make the announcement.
The fact that it is exactly 6 months in advance may point to the latter.
Punkt is the only official one left I think and and Im not sure they want to get into the actual android game or not
210 days from now so it kinda seems like a obligation think to me
So, safe bet that we aren't getting Android 9?
They'd be doing us a bigger favor by allowing the bootloader to be unlocked.
But knowing BlackBerry's stubbornness, it's never gonna happen.
The phones will remain on 8.1 forever, but hey it's better than a runtime of 4.3 forever.
That is true. I should be good for about 2 years or so on my Red Edition. Not sure where I'm going after that...
I'm actually surprised they committed to tech support until Aug 2022.
Some markets where two years is legally required... sure it will be TCL tech support, and getting a solution might not be as easy as one would hope. Maybe the held back some of those spare parts....
They said Aug 2022 or longer depending on local laws. That's how I read it.
So here in Germany
Kinda feels like when my uncle died not too long ago. His kidney's failed and he was basically dead but for being on life support machines. My aunt had to make the VERY hard decision to pull the plug, and then he "officially" died that night. This kinda feels like that, except BlackBerry was on life support MUCH longer!
Alas poor Yorick, for I knew him well...
Get a Unihertz Titan, it has Pie(9) and they committed to it getting 10 (time will tell)
Maybe Unihertz will try and license some of BB IP and do a Titan Lite vs. Rugged
So now, the BlackBerry Apps Suite and BBMe for Android/iOS end date speculation debates can begin.
Bought one and sold it a few days later. Keyboard was nothing compared to the Passport or KEY series.
Oh boy. So now can we close all those threads saying BBMo isn't done yet?
