A few reasons. Current market share (or lack thereof), stubborn carriers, inconsistent management directions, generally moving slower than the market, competition between BB10 and BBOS, specsmanship, the list goes on.

Will they be #1? With consumers, probably not. With enterprise, maybe, if Chen manages to find the right path.

Apple, on the other hand, has the public in their back pocket, and even if they screw up something as basic as SSL, enterprise is slowly turning away from BB. They can literally re-release the exact same phone in a cheaper shell, and people will buy it anyway.

I doubt that. The absolute worst-case scenario would be selling off everything except BES and BBM and becoming a software-only company.

Alternatively, they get sold to some company that wants to get in on enterprise/gobble up their patents.

Or they throw in the towel and sell everything up to the shirts on their backs. Which, coincidentally, is how then-RIM got all of those patents from Nortel.

Apple marketing is all about reaching the "feeling" part of the brain which works for most folks. Personally, I don't have "fellings" for my BlackBerry but I do love it's technical specs and functionality. I do have feelings for my ipad...hate the functionality, after using BlackBerry it makes me want to throw it against the wall but that would feel to painful in the wallet.

The money spent on marketing means that a lot of people get paid to sell the phone....... so your statement is wrong.

When the 5s came out, it has been everywhere. You would have had to live under a rock to not know that a new iPhone came out.

Then you just need the masses to have no idea about tech and you get a top seller.

Most of the people I know, have a phone that has been recommended/ they saw somewhere.

Many of them only use a few basic features and are happy.

Just look at the forum here: Most questions show you how little people care and only want something that "works" without spending time of getting to know the intricacies.

The iPhone is a phone for stupid people. This is why it is perfect.

The first rule of UI Design is:

Think of your Grandma using it.

Apple thought of your Colourblind Grandma.....

When you notice the restrictions of its OS, then you are better off with Android or BlackBerry.

Windows Phone is following the same Design Philosophy as Apple.

You see so many flavours of the same in those places where personal need and preferences are the driving force for choice.

So you don't want BlackBerry to bring new innovative products to the market? Apple just finds ways to take the same device and sell it with minimum features. They're sole purpose is revolutionize the tech mobile industry which they started with the first iPhone. BlackBerry has to release new phones to stay innovative.

-No expandable memory
-No HDMI out
-No video out(can't find settings)
-No bluetooth file transfer
-No flash player
-Can't add songs as ringtones
-Only Download 20mb at a time unless connected to wi-fi
-Tiny screen & touch pad
-Basic boring os

Because they have confidence in their product + a good deal of marketing. Iphone was not as popular as blackberry back then but blackberry became complacent and didn't do catch up right away. That's what happened.
