My friend filed for a claim for his blackberry which got sent to his old address which I happen to live at. Then he called the insurance company again and said they sent it to his old address, so they shipped another one out to his current address.

He told me to just keep the one that was sent to his old address, otherwise he'd just sell it. Can I keep it? Would there be a problem with switching phone numbers?

I wouldn't! Who knows what they do to imei numbers or PINs on devices that get lost in the mail. Maybe someone else knows more on this subject than me. I would just be paranoid of getting in trouble for it... =)

You need to return it. I can pretty much guarantee you it will end up causing more trouble than it is worth keeping it. You can bank the insurance company has the imei and pin numbers on it and they know the address they sent it to. You don't want deputies showing up at your door asking where it is.
