    I'm posting this question here since this might be common with all current BB...
    Why is it that installing an application takes only a few seconds, but removing it requires a restart?
    Isn't that kind of unusual?

    No. The restart is to clear remnants of the app as well as the
    associated icon.

    Think of it in terms of your PC just backwards. On the PC some
    programs require a restart to be fully functional. On the BB some
    apps require a restart to be fully gone.

    i also think* that it might be doing something similar to when you defragment your hard drive on a computer. you erase the app, and the berry ques it to be deleted on the next restart, and when it does, it pushes the rest of the stuff into the space where the app was, to defragment. i could be way off base here, but it makes sense to me
