so, the other day i got the CDK application to make themes (simulator too) and when i try to open it and an install anywhere window comes up and it says to select another location to extract files but wherever i choose it says the same thing. is there a specific place or am i missing something. is it even the application to make themes, if not where can i get it

I am not familuar with the software, but it sounds like you are being asked to extract the files prior to doing an install.

Is your downloaded file a ZIP or RAR format?
