O.K., here goes. I was with SunCom, now T-Mo. I was having some occasional browser errors (server blocked or unresponsive, error 405 & 500) no big deal just mildly annoying. Also I couldn't access T-zones. So I stopped by my local T-mo store and we ended up switching SIM cards from a SunCom to T-mo, yes it's unlocked. And ever since I only have lowercase "edge" no browser icon and no data services at all. We talked to tech support they said give it two hours and if it doesn't work call back. So two hours later I call. We troubleshoot for an hour. They said, not sure let us look into it, you may need a new phone, we'll call you back in 30 min. Three hours later I hadn't heard back so I call again. This rep tells me I need a new (HIGHER) plan. I raise he!! but whatever just make it work. They change my data plan and still nothing. So they pass me off to PDA support. We work on it for an hour. Nothing. They are suppose to call me back at 9pm. They haven't ruled out a new device but thats a pain and they don't carry my device. We've pulled battery and SIM card. There is nothing under HRT and register now never gets a message back. Sent service books MANY times. Never get 'em 'cause I have no data! All phone functions work, just data? The tech guy wants to call me back so I have time to do some back ups and a full wipe, WTF! All we did was change the SIM card. Does anybody else have suggestions?
Do you have another Blackberry phone or another T-mobile phone?
Because if you have another T-mobile phone you can see if you get EDGE or not.
Can you go into a store?

restored from a 2 day old back up did nothing.
Can't go to T-mo now at home with my daughter. The wifey's phone is T-mo but no data plan phone. She'll be home in an hour.
You can still try to put the sim card in your wifey's phone. If they provisioned you correct you will see EDGE. If it show edge lowercase then they did something wrong.

Not really. The only thing I can tell you is that I have been getting "edge" a lot lately as well. I'm guessing it has to do with the 3G rollout in Chicago, but if that doesn't pertain to where you are, then I guess you can rule that out.
still on the hold.............................................. .................................................. .....................................
o.k. update. I was excited about the t-mo merger but they have really let me down. I was on hold for over an hour last night. Heres what they have come up with. They finally got me to a RIM tech. They said the t-mo service books wont load to my Suncom device. They said they can easily be written to do so, but that t-mo probably won't because they don't sell/support the 8110. SO t-mo says they will give me an 8100 if I re-up for 2yrs. (they want me off my cheap Suncom plan). I said no my 8110 has gps. I'll take a free 8120 with wi-fi as a comprimise. They said no will give you a 8120 for $79. I say no, they say $49. It's getting better but why should I buy a new phone? Mine is 4 mo's old and what a pain! So I wouldn't budge and neither would they. They are willing to loose my wife and me who have been with Suncom for 6 years over $50!
So here I sit no data (well actually) if I set the phone to ON while roaming I get EDGE and data but still no browser. Who knows why my phone thinks its roaming?
That seems to be the general concensus. The problem is I shouldn't have to pay for one. Mine is like 4 months old. And they are the ones who wanted to try and switch it to a t-mo sim. It works fine if I put my wifes suncom sim in it. But they said there is no way to get another suncom sim.
I agree with you Plta[ylor, you should not have to pay for another phone or extend your contract!!
Have you tried to talk to a manager. So if your phone is under 1 year then you should have warrenty. That means they have to switch your phone.

I agree with Mari. Why should you need to get another BB. I would frack'n ticked off and raise he** if they do now want to swap the BB out.
I've been raising he11 for three days now. It's too the point now they just give me instructions on how to terminate my contract with no ETF. I can't believe they are willing to let us walk over 50 bucks. Which by the way I decided to take them up on, and they now so there is no record of that offer. If I wan't the 8120 it will be $179. AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRHHHHHHHHHHHGGGGGGGGGGGG!
