    I'm asking this question to try and clarify something;

I would like to know if those of you with a BB10 device, (referring to the first one you got) why did you get it?

How important/influential where the following factors? (also if you don't mind please include your location (just country/region is fine )

    1) Price (more of a setback than a draw for some but you never know)

    2) Trying out the device

    3) Advertisement (what kind did you see)

    4) You are a BlackBerry fan and it was their latest offering, why wouldn't you get it

    5) you felt it was time for something new

    Other

Did you feel that you learnt enough about BB10 from the adverts?

Or did your past with blackberry lead you to find out more?

Obviously there's a lot of q's /thoughts there, the more you answer the more helpful it will be I know a lot of you love to share so let's gather all this info together

    Thank you

I am from Wisconsin, USA. I got a BB Z10 in November. It was free with a 2 year contract, and at the time, Verizon was running a $50 mail in rebate to take it. I used to have only BB phones but then in 2011 I got a Droid RAZR. When BB10 came out, I was curious. I tried out the Z10 in store and loved the gestures and how simple everything was. It was much more fluid than other OS. There were essentially no advertisements. Lastly, I wanted to have something different. Everyone has an iPhone or a Galaxy and I wanted to try BlackBerry again. It definitely has it's glitches, but I'm glad I gave BB a second shot and will likely buy my next phone from them (although I think I will opt for a physical QWERTY in my next purchase)

Personally, I got my BlackBerry 10 device (a Dev Alpha B, currently running10.2.1.1925), because I wanted to build an app for PlayBook with a view to adding BB10 functionality when the PB received the update to BB10 (and we know what happened with *that*!). I got in touch with the good folks at BlackBerry, asking them to send me a Dev device on which I could code apps for BB10, and they very kindly obliged by sending me my Dev Alpha.
A month or two later, I had built my first app (HeroBuilder) ON my Dev, and had received another as a reward (and my wife got an upgrade to BB10 ) .

Now that BB10's are coming down in price, I am intending to purchase a Z10 in the next month or so - finances are difficult, but 1GB RAM is just not enough any more

I got my Q5 two weeks ago. I needed a phone because my previous BlackBerry (OS7) was slowly dying. I tried iPhone at work. I hated it. Android? No way. I hate everything related to Google because of privacy concerns. To me, it is important. I stay with BlackBerry and that's my choice. The price was also important because I am on a budget that's why I chose the Q5. I am very happy with it.

What was the price of the q5 compared to the Z10 where you are? Here in the UK it's almost the same lol

I got my Z10 because I wanted it. I had the 9860 and loved the phone but BB didn't do anything with it. It was a great phone and is my back-up device. If the Torch 9860 had came out instead of the Storm 9530, BB as a whole would be doing a lot better.I love my BB Z10 and I have been with BB since 07 and the Only way I'm leaving is they Stop EVERYTHING BB from working.

Does the Z10 fill the 9860 hole for you?

I got my Z10 at launch. Because I have been following BlackBerry 10 development since beginning and I like the feature set it offers. It's unique, special, functional and I completely buy into their design philosophy.

    Now I have a Z30 and couldn?t be happier.

And I am planning to get the Octo core one in 2015.

I'm in the Caribbean. I was a BlackBerry user for a few years so I didn't want to give up on them before I saw what they were bringing (with all the fuss about a new platform). In following the development of BlackBerry 10 I had made up in my mid that it was worth giving it a go since it seemed to address a pretty major thing for me.....work flow. so I bought the Z10 as soon as I could get my hands on one and had no regrets.

I got the z10 at launch. Paid for it out right. I'm in Kansas USA. After having it for a few months and 5 of my 6 employees liked it so well we got them one. 10 month later I got a 30 and best phone ever. 1 month later my wife gave up her iPhone and got a z10. I've installed the leak 1925 and side load snap on all of them. 3 of the 5 employees had iPhone and will tell you they love the phone as well as my wife loves her also.

Android reeeaaally wasn't doing it for me anymore, and I was curious because of all the negative press. It looked pretty cool in YouTube videos so I got myself a Z10, and it impressed me a lot more than I thought it would.

Now I have a Z30, and it makes me feel like a rock star to know that I didn't follow the herd and got myself the finest mobile computing device on the planet.

A couple weeks ago, I bought some stock too. I know too-dang-good-to-fail when I see it!

You didn't even hit the obvious reasons for those who actually do some research into the products they buy - UI, hub, best virtual keyboard, remote file access, multitasking, full BBM, browser, android runtime, best security, balance, etc etc. How come you didn't offer us any real reasons to chose from?
