They (BBRY) know it....not sure they have the cash to burn on that level of advertising though. It is a bit of a catch-22 in that they need cash to advertise but they also need the cash to keep on pushing the envelope in the enterprise space which is important for the company's survival. I do agree they badly need some creative and effective consumer advertising.

They need something worth advertising before they make that kind of investment. I'm sorry but mass marketing BB10 will accomplish nothing.

Absolutely true unless they want to advertise and tell everyone; "Instagram, SnapChat, Line and all those popular apps natively? Sorry we don't have apps..."

Two things come to mind when I see this comparison. One is that Samsung probably has thousands of these large ads across the US alone. If BlackBerry has more than 100 of those ads in the US in your post, I would be shocked.

The second is that the BlackBerry ad isn't that compelling and doesn't make me want to do the work (visit BlackBerry's website) to find out more about the phones versus Samsung's ad makes me want to go to a store to see the devices in person.

A successful advertising campaign from BlackBerry for their BB10 devices would only lead to an increased amount of returns for said devices. Most smartphone users these days expect certain things from their smartphones. One of those things is a wide selection of easily obtained apps. Until BlackBerry has that in place, advertising would be a waste of resources. Resources that would have been much better spent on turning BlackBerry into the software and services only company Chen wants it to be.

For me, the Samsung does not compel me to check-out the S6 Edge, and I don't believe there is an ad that would make me (or anyone) want to work!

Whoever approved that VFX showcase should be fired. Its not even an ad, it goes against all common sense principles of what effective advertising is.

And then there's the fact that the phone wasn't even for sale yet in the US, so even in the unlikely event that ad made you want to buy one, you couldn't do so anyway.
