It might just be the best bad idea ever.

    It's a BB10 16 x 9 portrait slider.... but it doesn't have a physical keyboard... it has a second screen.

The second screen could of course be used for the now-legendary BB10 virtual keyboard, but off the big screen so the app can be full screen but also have the keyboard available.... but it could be used for a lot more than just a keyboard though. It could be used for gaming like a Nintendo DS touchscreen to draw on while the action on the full 16 x 9 screen is not covered up by fingers or controls. A simple API in BB10 would allow games to poll the device to see if there is the second screen available, and if so, the game could draw the controls on the second screen instead of overlaying them on the main screen.

You know those capacitive suction-cup things that are like little joysticks? Well, they cover up too much of the actual game screen to be useful all the time (especially on phone / phablet sized screens) but if you could slide out the second screen, that suction cup could suck on that a screen like an all-day sucker without covering half the actual game screen.

Also, it could be useful in landscape mode: you could be on a call and when you slide open the screen and switch to another app, the phone UI could be displayed on the second screen while you're looking at a Web page etc.

It's so crazy it's crazy and that means that it is unique and I think something BlackBerry should do right away to hell with "enterprise" this and "being profitable" that. None of THAT really matters in the long run. Ok, so they do matter, but also...

a second screen could be a great virtual trackpad.

    Really intriguing idea actually!
Kind of cool, and definitely innovative.

I always wondered why there is no e-book reader, tablet or netbook available, that opens like a book, has two touchscreens, one as a keyboard, one as screen, but that can also be held like a book and so you can have TWO pages open and flick through like a book.

Is that what you are describing, OP?

sort of... but the device you are thinking about does exist... or it did but without a touchscreen-optimized Windows OS it was ahead of its time and / or too costly.

    Thanks.

Toshiba Libretto dual-screen is the one. I saw something like that flash up in a news piece years ago when netbook were all the craze, but it went away too quick.

Still no leather, and not primarily dedicated for ebook.

I would go crazy for something like that with BB10 on it!

iPhone for me? Scr... ahem Q that! (posted from the latter)

I had the same idea. Like with the second screen it could also be used as a e-reader and when you want to type in landscape mode you can change the position of the second screen. Make it a torch-like device.
