So we've seen vertical sliders, ie Torch, which I loved. And we have seen horizontal sliders, i.e my old HTC tilt 2, which I also loved. I realize the mechanism would be difficult to make and make reliable, but I would be curious to see the technology evolve so that the lettering was digital on an physical keyboard and would essentially be rotated depending on the direction of the slide?

    Thoughts?

Not sure I see how that would work. Either way it would seem the keys themselves would then be in a position that would prevent someone from using them. And then if they were digital... why not use a virtual keyboard. The "feel" would be all wrong.

Wide keyboards are a pretty poor ergonomic typing experience with two thumbs. There is a good reason why BlackBerry's world class keyboard designers have never touched that one.
