TRUE STORY - I was on an eleveator with a guy about a year ago and he dropped his 8310 (I think) and it fell through the crack in the elevator door...and we were 10 floors up. Needless to say, he found his BB in the basement with the battery door and battery a few feet away. After he put the battery back in he powered up the device...with no problems! I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it myself. The screen did have a crack in it and it was pretty banged up but, it still powered up just fine.

there is no way that my 9000 could do that. My 8300 was a frikken rugged monster. I threw it all the time... I'd never do that to my bold. I can feel it, it's a fragile little guy (big?) lol.

You could save your Ziploc bags and just get an Aquapac...

Hmm, learn something new everyday. Never knew this existed. I am a granite fabricator and there is alot of water involved in the process. Could have saved myself about 6-8 blackberrys.
To the OP..a real rugged device from blackberry...87xx series and 72xx series. I have had many of them and beat them like theres no tommorow. Most of which still work to this day. Sure its a step back as far as media and camera go.

Two words: Otter Box. (Or is that one word?)

Of course, I don't think they are waterproof, but they can help with drops and such - also makes the BB look more rugid.

I'm SAME way! I did my 8310 any old way and it was fine. I'm afraid to put this one down even a little less that soft! I just got it so I have to hurry and decide on a case!

Wow. You can't take it being away from your berry for 10 or 15 min. If you can't you don't need a waterproof case, you need some mental help cuz that's ridiculous.

Let me see if I get this. You want RIM to change the design
structure of their products because you are so important that
you have to be contacted in the shower.

Send them a letter. As soon as they realize they failed to create
a device that acknowledges and accommodates your sheer
importance and awesomeness, I'm sure they'll get right on it.
I'll be watching out for airborne swine.

I've dropped my Storm a few times...(unintentionally)...few scratches on the housing, battery door pops off...(the usual), other than that I have no complaints!
