"Well, it's not like your phone will stop working tomorrow, right guys?"

Well, no. It won't. But this has been the whole point that several people here have been making.

Support for several apps will stop, standards will go out of date.

And while your phone won't stop working, it will have much reduced functionality. If you're OK with getting a smartphone with feature phone functionality, that's fine.

BB10 is dead, move on. But not to a Priv, to another manufacturer with proven track record that may not stop developing for their own devices at any point.

As long as you don't need apps, then BB10 is fine. My classic is a work horse for communication and I will continue to use it for another year, however I am switching my work phone to an iphone for apps.

When WhatsApp's development team look at BB10, they can see the writing on the wall. Another issue for them is API limitation.

The key issue with BB10 is that the only people that care about it are in these forums, and not in BlackBerry boardrooms...

Chen was brought in to try and balance Blackberries books to try and make the company profitable in order to sell it. In business terms, it makes perfect sense. However, it's not so good those whom like their products.

I live perfectly fine without Whatsapp. It doesn't make me any safer.

Regardless, there is 10 more months of Whatsapp which is plenty of time to adapt to safer climes.

I never use WhatsApp so, that news is of no consequence to me. However, will BBM stop supporting BB10 OS? If not, is BB10 really dead or on the back burner just in case it can be resurrected for some purpose? BB10 OS could be becoming an elite OS.

    Elite at what exactly?

    Having no support?
    Having no development?
    Having no carrier support?

I could go on, but you see where I'm going.
BB10 was my OS of choice for a long while. Buying multiple devices and even the Priv.

And guess what? Right now, they are all in their respective boxes replaced by a different Android OEM variant.

And as much as I hate to say it, this time I won't be turning back to my 9930,Playbook,Q10,Z30, Passport or Priv.

They had a year or so to pretty much Iron out the kinks in the Priv and they didnt.

It may not directly affect you, but it does affect you. It's another negative for BB10. How can that be good?

Whenever I see the "Workhorse for communication" put up someplace I wanna scream!!!! I've had 3 platforms. Android was the worst. BB, well, BB lost their focus and they were arrogant. I currently use the iPhone 6. That doesn't really matter. Here is what matters, IF BB was the workhorse you claim, it stands to reason it would have more the .2% of the market. Companies have found that Android and iPhone are simply a better product with a lot more flexibility. I get it, you have a preference for BB but its never going to be a great phone and its no more of a workhorse than any other smartphone out there. BB doesn't even believe in BB.

What is it that you need to see, hear, feel, touch or whatever for you to see that BB10 is dead? LOL! Nothing new on its way and Apps are becoming fewer.Would you believe it if a giant sign the size of a 747 was hanging off the side of the building? I suspect you would post here asking if that was also true. LOL

Seriously, a real BB enthusiast (despite the brand dying) could care less about whatsapp - BBM far exceeds anything this app can provide.

If you cant beat 'em, join 'em I suppose. Sounds crazy to some, but they have this BBM app thing on all platforms. I dunno, maybe its not worth the fight. My girlfriends BBM on Priv just spews ads all the time, I digress.
